Rimfire Straddles The World In Its Quest For New Copper And Gold Deposits

For many a year now Canadian-listed Rimfire Minerals, under the leadership of David Caulfield, has been focussing on exploration in Western Canada and Alaska, where its team has gained a profound understanding of the styles and geological controls on mineralization. But at the turn of this year Jason Weber moved up from being manager of corporate communications to chief executive, and David Caulfield became chairman and director of business development. That meant David could continue with the strategy of identifying new exploration opportunities and forming joint ventures with suitable companies to hedge financial and geological risk. Both have worked together at Rimfire since 1999 so they are as one in their views on the strategic vision for the company.

The first fruits of this re-allocation of responsibilities can be seen in the agreement in June for Rimfire to enter into an option/joint venture arrangement with ASX-listed Jaguar Minerals to explore the Springfield gold project in the Lachlan Fold Belt of New South Wales. Students of Rimfire, however, will remember that David Caulfield first decided to get involved in this area back in 2006, so this deal should not have come as a surprise.
