Great Panther Leaps Back From The Brink: Leaner, Fitter, And Well Set To Produce Over Two Million Ounces Of Silver Profitably This Year

Ladies and gentlemen if you want a story, I’ll give you a story: it’s the tale of a mining company ducking and weaving its way through a running series of sink or swim scenarios in the midst of the worst financial crisis the world has seen for more than half a century. This particular story is about the trial by fire of silver miner Great Panther Resources, about how it survived the severe pressure of the market collapses last year and ended up emerging leaner and stronger. But in the broad brush strokes it could be about any number of the companies that we all know, and some of which we love.

In this particular telling of the tale we have to go back less than a year for our beginning, to the late autumn of 2008. That was when things really started to get nasty all round, and that was when Great Panther found too, to its own chagrin, that it was in no way likely to be spared any of the pain that was then being dealt out, left, right, and centre. Up until that moment, although everyone could see that markets were turning down, there was some hope that the Chinese cavalry would still...
