Company Statement

True North Gems is a Canadian junior resource company focused on the exploration and development of North American coloured gemstone deposits.

Current Operations

The Fiskenaesset Ruby Project (Greenland)
Introduction
The Fiskenaesset Ruby Project is located on the southwest coast of Greenland, about 160 kilometres south of the capital Nuuk.  The property consists of three claim blocks covering 110 square kilometres.  True North currently holds an option to earn a 100% interest in the property.

Both ruby and pink sapphire (red and pink varieties of the mineral corundum), are found on the property.  Individual stones weighing more than 80 grams (400 carats) have been found.  Both rubies and pink sapphires are valuable gem materials, and in high quality rubies can be worth more than diamonds.

True North began summer exploration programs in 2004 and has returned every year since.  Twenty nine (29) ruby occurrences have found in the Fiskenaesset district so far, with a total of 78 tonnes of material removed for processing over three years (48 tonnes have been processed to date).  From the material processed, over 65,000 grams of gem and over 129,700 grams of near-gem ruby and pink sapphire have been recovered.

The rubies occur along a regional geologic contact between anorthosite and amphibolite that has been found to extend for more than 200 kilometres in the Fiskenaesset district.

Although the prices of gemstones can vary greatly depending on quality, independent valuations have valued a 0.69 carat ruby from Aappaluttoq at $3,220/carat and a 0.96 carat pink sapphire from Aappaluttoq at $460 per carat (prices are US$ wholesale).

The Tsa da Glisza Emerald Project (Yukon, Canada)
The Tsa Da Glisza property is located in the southeastern Yukon, Canada.  The property is comprised of 105 claims covering 21.22 square kilometres.  The property is 100% owned by True North Gems.

Emeralds were found on the property in 1998 and True North began work on the property in 2001. Activities over five years include soil sampling, silt sampling, prospecting, geological and structural mapping, diamond drilling, trenching, and mini-bulk sampling and processing in the on-site plant.

Emeralds are found over a distance of 930 metres with a 200 metre elevation range.

Emeralds are located in and adjacent to quartz-tourmaline veins which cut chlorite-rich schist.  The Creataceous-age granite and the critical juxtaposition between elements in the veins (specifically beryllium, Be), and the wall rock (chromium, Cr), allows emeralds (the mineral beryl) to crystallize.  The mineral beryl is coloured green by the element chromium, which also gives them the property of chromium fluorescence, or the ability to emit light as well as reflect it.

Independent valuations of faceted emeralds from Tsa da Glisza range from $10-$600 per carat (US$ wholesale).

The Beluga Sapphire Project (Yukon, Canada)
The Beluga Sapphire property is located on southeastern Baffin Island, Nunavut, near the town of Kimmirut.  The property consists of four claims covering 16.4 square kilometres.  The property is 100% owned by True North Gems.

Sapphire was discovered on the property in 2002 by a local prospector.  Exploration showed that sapphire, yellow sapphire, colourless sapphire, and pink sapphire, all varieties of the mineral corundum, are found on the property.  Sapphire crystals up to 20 cm in length have been found.  More than fifteen gem corundum locations occur over a 4.5 kilometre distance.

Sapphires occur in calc-silicate lenses which show widespread metamorphic and hydrothermal replacement in outcrop, surface trenches, and drill core.  The mineral scapolite has been found in close association with sapphire.  Scapolite is highly fluorescent, and can be mapped at night using ultraviolet light.
Independent valuations of faceted sapphires from Beluga range from $30-$400 per carat (US$ wholesale).

The Bandito Nickel Project (Yukon, Canada)
The Bandito Nickel Project is located in the southeastern Yukon, Canada.  The property is comprised of 81 claims covering 16.8 square kilometres.  The property is 100% owned by True North Gems.

While prospecting for gemstones in the southeastern Yukon in 2004, nickel mineralization was discovered and an initial 8 claims were staked over the occurrence.  The property has since been expanded based on work completed in 2005.

The principal Ni-rich anomaly coincides with intense hematite and manganese oxide alteration envelopes over a distance of more than 750 x 600 metres.
