Company Statement

Zambezi Resources Limited (AIM:ZRL; ASX:ZRL) is a Zambia-focused exploration company successfully discovering and developing multiple Copper/Gold Projects in Southern Zambia.  The company has gained a first mover advantage with a large tenement portfolio covering an area exceeding 17,000km2 and it has achieved competitive superiority by assembling one of Africa’s most active exploration teams with over 25 geoscientists.  With over three years of in-country experience, the application of modern exploration techniques is yielding excellent results for the Zambezi exploration team.

In 2008, the company aims to drill over 100,000 metres to define major copper resources at its Cheowa and Kangaluwi projects, while developing drill targets at its Mulofwe and Mpande Dome projects.  Zambezi will also continue to form strategic alliances, as it has done at Cheowa and Chalimbana where the company has Joint Ventures with Glencore.

Current Operations

Highlights

  • 20/05/2008 – New exploration projects continue to enter the extensive Zambezi Resources portfolio which include: Mukwizi with rock chips up to 11.4% Cu & 1.80 g/t Au and; 23m @ 0.43% Cu in trench samples at Mvula.
  • 09/05/2008 – Large VTEM anomaly associated with known copper mineralisation located at the Kangaluwi Copper Project, which indicates mineralisation may be even more extensive than first thought.
  • 15/04/2008 – Zambezi announces that it is on track to complete the Cheowa JV pre-feasibility study (PFS) by end of June quarter 2008.
  • 15/04/2008 – RC drilling extends the Cheowa JV CC2 mineralisation boundary another 150 metres with 10m @ 2.14% Cu & 2.60 g/t Au. Continuing scout drilling continues to locate further mineralisation at the CC10, CC12 & CC 13 anomalies.
  • 30/01/2008 – Significant drill intersections at the Cheowa JV Project made outside the CC2 resource envelope of 10m @ 3.00% Cu and 10m @ 1.66% Cu are announced by Zambezi Resources. In addition to which scout drilling identifies significant visual copper mineralisation at the CC12, CC13 and CC15 anomalies.
  • 22/01/2008 – ZRL announces that the  Kangaluwi Copper Project continues to live up to expectations. Drilling identifies mineralisation over 3 kilometres of strike and remains open-ended and at depth. Results to date include 7m @ 2.14% Cu from 59m; 7m @1.45% Cu from 143m; 15m @ 0.96% Cu from 88m; 21m @ 0.96% from 7m and 13m @ 0.92% Cu from 118m. Copper mineralisation is oxide transitioning to sulphide at depth.
  • 12/12/2007 – Zambezi Resources announces updated indicated resource at CC2 for the Cheowa JV Project. Resource now stands at 2.9Mt @ 1.05% Cu & 0.22 g/t Au, covering 1.2 kms of strike to a depth of approximately 120 metres. Mineralisation remains open along strike and at depth with further coincident soil geochemical and VTEM anomalies remain to be drilled tested along 12 kilometres of strike.
  • 29/08/2007 – Zambezi continues to add to its pipeline of exploration projects with rock chips assaying up to 11.9% Cu, 212 g/t Ag & 31.5% Pb at Mwapula; 1.59% Cu & 12.0g/t Ag at Iron Cap South and; 1.02% Cu, 21.4 g/t Ag  & 3.86 g/t Au at Kamona.

Geographical Spread

Extensive exploration until the early 1970's lead to the outlining of several multi-million tonne copper deposits being identified many of which have copper ore grades which could be potentially economic. The company sees southern Zambia as a highly attractive area in which to invest due to paucity of exploration on known mineral occurrences over the last 30 years. The historic focus on copper exploration in the Zambian Copperbelt to the north of the country has left a highly prospective area to the south of the country relatively untouched. In addition, the withdrawal of investment capital following the nationalisation of all of Zambia's mines in the 1970's exacerbated the lack of exploration in the country as a whole. With Zambia now functioning within a politically stable framework Zambezi Resources believes it can successfully develop copper and gold assets in a potentially mineral rich region.
