Company Statement
Westminster is focused on Copper-Gold exploration in Mexico a jurisdiction that has, cost effective, large scale discovery potential and political stability as part of the North American Free Trade Agreement. The companies project mandate is the discovery of highly sought after 500 million tonne copper-gold porphyry deposits.
To this end the Company has assembled a new Copper-Gold porphyry mineral district approximately 50 kilometers north of Navojoa in Sonora State, Mexico. Navojoa is, a modern city, population 145,000, serviced by railways, electricity, potable water and modern communications and located on the main highway 15 connected to the State capital of Hermosillo in central Sonora and Tucson Arizona USA to the north.
The Company’s mineral district covers 6 mineral concessions of 18,145 hectares (181 square kilometers), approximately 20 kilometers by 10 kilometers in size, and is easily accessed from Navojoa in, less than one hour, by light vehicle. The property is covered by desert ranch lands where exploration programs can be active throughout the year.
Commodities identified to date include copper, gold, silver and molybdenum found within very large porphyry deposit systems. Three separate centers of classic porphyry-style mineralization complete with associated high grade skarn bodies have been identified to date. These targets display characteristics of open pittable 500 million tonne resources consisting of surface oxidation, supergene blanket sulphide enrichment zones and primary porphyry and skarn sulphide mineralization.
This underexplored portion and undrilled Laramide granite intrusive belt with adjacent mineralized skarns is located in the famous copper porphyry mega district which stretches along all of Sonora into Arizona USA.
A very technically capable and experienced team has been assembled who have devised and will execute the 2009 exploration program. Geophysics, mapping, prospecting and drilling of the known targets as identified during the rigorous due diligence process is now underway. Drilling results are planned to be available during the early Fall of 2009.
Current Operations
The project has identified 6 mineralized skarn bodies and three separate granitic porphyry-style intrusive centers. The current program will concentrate on the Fafy mineral concession where the extensive mineralized target has been identified by IP survey geophysics over a 4km by 2.5km area. This mineralization has a surface expression as well as interpreted supergene enriched sulphide zones at depth. In June 2009, 3000 meters of reverse circulation drilling and 1000 meters of core diamond drilling will commence to test the target with 12-14 holes to about 250 meters depth. Detailed exploration of the other targets will continue concurrently.
