Patagonia Gold Plc is an Argentine based mining company listed on the London Alternative Investment market since 2003.
Our management and exploration teams have demonstrated the ability to find, develop and operate successful large scale gold operations at low cost. The Company is maintaining a high level of exploration activity in Argentina.
Exploration teams working in four provinces are supported by international consultants, conducting exploration on over 150 mineral properties covering 7,000 square kilometres. Patagonia Gold Plc’s is compiling a diverse geological portfolio in Argentina and is constantly looking at other opportunities for exploration and acquisition.
Patagonia Gold’s geographical focus is South America and the Company's aim is to build a portfolio of highly prospective properties which have the potential to be developed into a multi million ounce resources in order to maximize shareholders' return.
Santa Cruz
Patagonia Gold holds over 70 properties (expedients) in Santa Cruz, totalling approximately 200,000 hectares. This impressive portfolio of properties is composed of several drill ready targets.
The bulk of the properties were acquired from Barrick exploration on their decision to desist from further exploration in Santa Cruz. Patagonia Gold has already completed one programme of circa 10,000 metres of diamond and reverse circulation drilling on the very prospectives Lomada de Leiva and Breccia Sofia properties, both in the La Paloma block. Recent exploration and verification sampling has been conducted on the El Tranquilo (Cap Oeste and Breccia Valentina) and the La Manchuria properties. All three of these prospects are to be drilled in the near future.
San Juan
San Juan Province in northwest Argentina, comprises a series of north-south elongate mountain ranges that rise in altitude to the west to form the rugged Andean Cordillera (Argentina and Chile). The mountain ranges are separated by sometimes wide valleys.
The western Precordillera comprises strongly folded and faulted Palaeozoic to Cenozoic sedimentary rocks and minor volcanics. No major mineral deposits are known in this area.
In the east two major ranges of Upper Proterozoic-Lower Paleozoic metasedimentary-intrusive basement lithologies are exposed overlain in places by Mesozoic sediments and minor volcanics.
Neuquen
Neuquén Province in northern Patagonia, Argentina, comprises an extensive area of relatively flat-lying terrain (Argentina) bounded in the west by the rugged Andean Cordillera (Argentina and Chile).
Known mineralization in Neuquén province includes porphyry copper-gold (Campana Mahuida), copper skarn (Caicayen), polymetallic vein (Andacollo), and alluvial gold deposits (Rio Neuquén) but there is potential for other styles of mineralization including epithermal and sediment hosted gold.
PGSA does not currently hold any properties in Neuquén Province but is actively assessing the potential of the zone as well as an aggressive policy of appraisal of third party properties for possible JV or acquisition.
Rio Negro
Rio Negro Province in northern Patagonia, Argentina, comprises an extensive area of relatively flat-lying terrain (Argentina) bounded in the west by the rugged Andean Cordillera (Argentina and Chile).
PGSA holds a number of mineral properties, totaling approximately 26,000 hectares, including the Cerro El Morro property drilled during 2006.
Chubut
Chubut Province in southern Patagonia, Argentina, comprises an extensive area of relatively flat-lying terrain (Argentina) bounded in the west by the rugged Andean Cordillera (Argentina and Chile).
PGSA holds a number of mineral properties, totaling approximately 170,000 hectares.
The Province of Chubut imposed an Exclusion Zone in July of 2006 which covers the western section of the Province, within which exploration and mining is effectively banned for the next three years.
The Gastre Project area has been explored by reconnaisance sampling and several prospective targets drill. Currently work is been undertaken to assess the merit of further work and drilling.
Minamalu: Exploration of these areas has been on hold initially due to Meridian's state of "pause" on their Esquel gold project but more recently because of the decision of the Province of Chubut to ban exploration and mining (non alluvial) in the Cordilleran zone for the next 36 months from July of 2006.
