Company Statement

Ormonde Mining Plc is a Junior exploration and mine development company incorporated in Ireland in 1995 and presently domiciled in Ireland, which is developing mining projects and carrying out exploration in Spain.
Ormonde’s Executive Management is technically driven, comprising two mining engineers with both operational and project development experience and two geologists with both advanced project evaluation and exploration experience.
Ormonde’s shares are listed on both the Irish Stock Exchange (on the Irish Enterprise Exchange, IEX) where it trades in euro under the symbol ORM.I and on the London Stock Exchange (on the Alternative Investment Market, AIM) where it trades in sterling under the symbol ORM.L

Current Operations

Ormonde’s operational activities are exclusively on Spain, where it is focused on completing the evaluation of two mining projects with the objective of moving into mine production as rapidly as possible. The mining projects comprise:

Barruecopardo Tungsten Project

The Barruecopardo (Bar..wec…o…par…do) Tungsten Deposit is located in Salamanca Province of the Castilla y Leon Region of North West Spain. This deposit was previously worked to shallow depths by a series of small open pit workings and one larger open pit, from the early 1900s until 1982. These previous operations produced a clean, high grade, tungsten concentrate which was sold in to tungsten metal processors.

Ormonde has earned a 90% interest in this project by carrying out a series of drilling programmes beneath these old mine workings, which has defined 5 to 7 zones of steeply dipping, high grade, tungsten mineralisation in granites. All zones are open along strike and at depth and additional vein mineralisation in the area has not been explored to date.

This drilling has lead to the definition of a resource of 3 million tonnes at a high cut-off grade (6 million tonnes at lower, more normal industry cut-off grades). It is anticipated that the resource will expand significantly as drilling continues to define a long life mining operation.

Metallurgical testwork carried out by Ormonde was indicated that the coarse mineralisation will yield high metal recoveries using simple, conventional, gravity concentration techniques.

An Order-of-Magnitude Study has demonstrated that this is likely to become a relatively straightforward, economically robust, underground mining operation with low capital investment requirements.

Final evaluation of this project is underway with a view to proceeding with permitting and development during 2009.

La Zarza Copper, Gold, Zinc Project
The La Zarza (La..thar..tha) Deposit is located in Huelva Province of the Andalucia Region of Southern Spain. This deposit was previously for pyrite by both open pit and underground mining methods.

Ormonde has earned a 100% interest in this project, by carrying out drilling programmes, metallurgical testwork and completing a bankable feasibility study on a proposed 600,000 tonne per annum underground operation. The capital cost estimate arising from this feasibility study was higher than anticipated and a review of the development proposals is currently underway with a view to seeking a lower capital cost development route.
