Olympus Pacific Minerals Inc. is producing, and exporting gold from its Bong Mieu Gold Plant located in central Vietnam approximately 100 km from the port city of Da Nang. The company will continue to develop its core properties, Bong Mieu and the high-grade Phuoc Son Gold Property. Both properties are presently producing and have established NI 43-101 resources. Olympus' primary focus is to generate internal cash flow from increased gold production through its processing facility at Bong Mieu. These production goals will be achieved by toll treating high-grade Phuoc Son ore, improving our gold recovery, and lowering production costs. Proceeds from these efforts will be used for the further development of the Bong Mieu and Phuoc Son Gold Properties.
Production
Olympus is producing and shipping gold from its Bong Mieu Gold Plant and plans to increase exports steadily over the next several months contributing to internal cash flow. The Company recently announced the completion of the Phuoc Son Feasibility Study that recommends the development and construction of a gold processing plant capable of producing some 60,000 ounces of gold on an annualized basis. The Company plans to continue the development and construction of Phuoc Son and Bong Mieu from the cash generated through the expected increased production from the Bong Mieu Gold Plant. The Company has completed an in-house scoping study at Bong Mieu that will lead to a full feasibility study to justify increasing Bong Mieu's annual production to 100,000 ounces of gold. Over the next three years, total gold production between Bong Mieu and Phuoc Son is forecasted at 160,000 to 200,000 ounces on an annualized basis.
Exploration
Exploration success at Bong Mieu and Phuoc Son has been significant with recent resource updates; Bong Mieu on October 9, 2007, and Phuoc Son on January 15, 2008. On March 23rd, 2009 the Company reported important increases to the mineral resource at the Bong Mieu East Gold-Tungsten deposit as outlined in a Technical Report prepared by Terra Mining Consultants and Stevens & Associates (“TMC/SA”). The full text of the report is will be available on the Sedar website: (www.sedar.com). A further increased resource estimate is expected at Phuoc Son during the second or third quarter of 2009.
