Company Statement

Connemara Mining Company plc was Incorporated in the republic of Ireland in 2006 and listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2007. The name of the Group is derived from an old Irish company involved in mining in the Connemara region. In 1852 this old Irish company named ‘Connemara Mining Company of Ireland’ mined lead outside Gort in County Galway, and was listed on the London Stock Exchange. This Irish project lasted 4 years and the ruins of the mining operation can still be seen today. Connemara Ireland was established in 2000, subsequently acquired by Connemara Mining Company plc, by veterans of the Irish zinc industry to exploit zinc opportunities in Ireland.

Current Operations

Connemara has operated a number of exploration programmes on five separate licence blocks in the Republic of Ireland; two blocks are Joint Ventured with Teck Cominco. The other blocks operated by Connemara are located in the prospective Irish Midlands Basin where the target is for large, high grade  “Irish Type”, carbonate hosted zinc / lead deposits and in the Lower Palaeozoic terrain in the southeast where the target is for Volcanogenic Massive Sulphides (VMS) and shear hosted gold mineralisation.

In addition to the exploration activity a detailed target generation programme has acquired four additional blocks of licences (Moate, Nenagh, Thurles and Mine River) located in regions where ground is recognised as being very prospective and is highly sought after.

The current Connemara licence blocks are as follows:

1. Monaster Block – six contiguous licences in Limerick, the site of the 2007 discovery.
2. Newcastle West Block– ten contiguous licences in Limerick, close to Monaster.
3. Lough Sheelin Block – five contiguous licences located in counties Cavan and Meath, with strong drilling results from first phase drilling.
4. Castlemaine – a single licence located in County Kerry.
5. Thurles Block – three contiguous licences in County Tipperary, 5km south of Lisheen mine.
6. Nenagh Block - four contiguous licences in County Tipperary, 1.2km north of Silvermines mine.
7. Moate Block - four non contiguous licences in County Westmeath.
8. Mine River Block – four contiguous licences in Counties Waterford and Wicklow.
9. Kildare Block– a single licence in County Kildare, with strong gold indications. Additional ground has been offered and will be accepted.

Monaster Block
The Monaster Block comprises six contiguous prospecting licences (PLs) in County Limerick, Ireland. The licence block is located in a highly prospective area for base metal mineralisation and is 5km from the Tobermalug and Caherconlish zinc discoveries at Pallas Green that are currently being evaluated by Xstrata/Minco.

A large portion of the Monaster Block is underlain by Waulsortian Limestone which is in turn overlain by SupraWaulsortian limestones and volcanic rocks. The Waulsortian Limestone is host to a number large base metal deposits in Ireland including the Lisheen and Galmoy zinc mines located approximately 60km to the Northeast.

Teck Cominco commenced drilling on the Monaster licence block in May 2007 and completed a 5-hole (2414m) programme by the end of the year. Drill targets were defined using a combination of soil geochemical, geophysical and geological data.

The fourth drill hole in the programme was located on the Stonepark prospect and intersected significant base metal mineralisation from 372.75 to 380.10m depth. The mineralisation consists of massive, veinlet, and disseminated sphalerite, galena and pyrite and is hosted in a thick zone of brecciated Waulsortian limestone. The late 2007 discovery at Stonepark in Limerick is of major importance and drilling resumed at Stonepark in 2008. A follow up programme in early 2008 has again encountered significant zinc and lead in a step out hole 100 metres away. A recent drill hole intersected 15.35 metres of mineralised breccia containing clasts of pyrite-sphalerite-galena. The upper 2.85 metres of the breccia contains 12.18% zinc and 0.75% lead and the entire 15.35 metre breccia zone has an average grade of 3.25% zinc and 0.33% lead.

The good grades and big thickness of Stonepark mineralisation is very exciting. It is very similar to the ore at the large Anglo American Lisheen mine to the northeast. Drilling is ongoing at Stonepark with two drill rigs currently on-site. A number of geophysical surveys have also been completed at Stonepark, and on a number of other prospects on the Monaster licence block, in early 2008 and these targets will also be drill tested in the second half of 2008.

Newcastle West Block
The Newcastle West block comprises ten contiguous prospecting licences and is located approximately 20km southeast of the Stonepark prospect on the Monaster Block. The area is relatively underexplored when compared to the Pallas Green-Monaster area but is considered to be prospective for base metal mineralisation.

The geology of the block is dominated by two roughly east-west trending, large anticlinal folds that are flanked by prospective Waulsortian Limestone. A number of large east-west to northeast trending normal faults have also been mapped on the licence. This is significant as Irish-Type base metal deposits are structurally controlled and occur in the hanging wall rocks of normal faults.

The sub-cropping Waulsortian Limestone in the southern portion of the Newcastle West block is on-trend from known mineralisation at the Killmallock prospect currently being explored by Boliden. Historic intercepts from Killmallock include;

·          5.3m grading 9.6% Zn, 2.1 % Pb; ·          and 4.5m grading 12.3% Zn, 1.6% Pb

Connemara Mining carried out a programme of geological mapping, geophysical and geochemical surveys on the Newcastle West block following up on a number of historical soil anomalies. Further exploration work is currently being carried out by Teck Cominco with the aim of developing drill targets for testing in 2009. Teck are operators on the block.

Lough Sheelin Block
The Lough Sheelin block consists of five contiguous prospecting licences - 1051, 1053, 1991, 3925 & 3926 - covering an area of approximately 170.76 km2 of Counties Meath and Cavan in north-central Ireland. The block is located approximately 20km west of the giant Navan zinc/lead mine (c.100 million tonnes grading c.8% zinc / 1% lead) that is currently being operated by New Boliden.

The licence block is located along the southern edge of the Longford-Down Massif, where Lower Palaeozoic sediments are unconformably overlain by a transgressive sequence of Lower Carboniferous shallow water marine carbonates. The primary target horizon for zinc/ lead mineralisation are the Navan Beds succession, which can be up to 140m thick in this area. The structural setting of the Lough Sheelin region is strongly analogous to the Navan area.

The diamond drilling programme was carried out to test targets along the relatively poorly explored Drumlerry region. Good results meant that a 5 hole programme was extended to 11 holes as we followed the trail of mineralisation. A total of eleven holes were completed during this phase of exploration, carried out between December 2007 and April 2008. The second zinc discovery made at this sight which is about 100 miles to the northeast of the Limerick find. The target on this block is a Tara Mines/Navan lookalike. The Tara mine at Navan is the 6th largest zinc mine in the world. The Lough Sheelin block is located 25km west of Navan in a geological and structural setting analogous to that of Navan.

Follow up programme planned drilling for H2 2008.

Castlemaine Block
Castlemaine block is located in western Kerry with the village of Castlemaine located at the centre of the licence. The general region, encompassing Castlemaine, Castleisland and Tralee, was considered prospective for Waulsortian Reef hosted Zinc / Lead mineralisation and has not been intensively explored using modern techniques.

Hammer prospecting was completed over the area around the old Noranda workings. The objective of this work was to check for evidence of any zinc mineralisation associated with the galena, which is reported as the main ore mineral. Eight mineralised float boulders were found with significant sphalerite or galena mineralisation. Two boulders contained galena only, one associated with coarse white calcite and the other with dolomitised Reef. The remaining six boulders were of very high grade, coarsely crystalline, red/brown sphalerite, visual estimate > 30% Zn.

The target in this area is to simply test the lateral extent of the Annagh/Meanus mineralisation. This zone of mineralisation is most likely structurally controlled, once the strike extent has been defined then the objective would be to test for any stratiform Waulsortian Reef hosted massive sulphides controlled by this structure. (Belmore Resources encountered a similar scenario when exploring at the Kilbricken, Supra Reef hosted, lead mine in County Clare).

Thurles Block
The Thurles Licence Block has been recently awarded to Connemara and it consists of three contiguous prospecting licences – 1577, 1578 & 3321 - covering an area of approximately 101.47 km2 of County Tipperary in south-central Ireland.

The block is located approximately 5km south of the Lisheen Mine - a Waulsortian Reef hosted deposit (22.79 million tonnes, 12.04% zinc / 2.05% lead) and 12km southwest of the Galmoy Mine, also hosted by the Waulsortian Reef (9.9Mt 12.8% zinc / 1.3% lead).

Nenagh Block
The Nenagh Licence Block has been recently awarded to Connemara and it consists of four contiguous prospecting licences – 3156, 3678, 3425 and 3953 - covering an area of approximately 138.23 km2 of County Tipperary in south-central Ireland.

The block is located approximately 1.2km north of the worked out Silvermines Mine - a Waulsortian Reef hosted deposit - 17.67 million tonnes, 6.43% zinc / 2.53% lead / 23g/t silver, with and additional 5.5 million tonnes of 84% barite at Macobar.

Moate Block
The Moate Licence Block that has been recently awarded to Connemara consists of four non-contiguous prospecting licences – 3982, 3983, 3406 and 3722 - covering an area of approximately 137.72 km2 of County Westmeath in west-central Ireland close to Athlone.

The cluster of licences are located approximately 40km northeast of the worked out Tynagh Deposit - a Waulsortian Reef breccia hosted deposit - 9.2 million tonnes, 5.0% zinc / 6.2% lead.

The Mine River Block
The Mine River licence block consists of a group of four contiguous prospecting licences – 2553, 2554, 2555 and 2558. The licences cover an area of approximately 130 square kilometres in counties Wicklow and Wexford.

The historic Caim Mine, situated on the licence PL 2556 is an epithermal base metal deposit hosted by the Ribband group. The Mine was worked from 1818 to 1836. Although no quantitative estimative of the size of the deposit has been reported, the workings seem to have been extensive with a large open pit and a number of shafts created

An intensive trenching programme followed by drilling is planned for 2008.

The Kildare Block
PL 3777 is located in eastern Kildare approximately 8km east of the town of Naas and 1km west of the town of Blessington. It covers an area of 33.54 km2 of low to medium relief rolling hills with land usage dominated by pasture for the rearing of beef and dairy cattle but there also is a significant amount of sand and gravel quarrying.

Work carried out during 2007 was focused upon the region with very high grade “bonanza” style gold mineralisation located to the south of the hamlet of Tipperkevin. A detailed 2D Resistivity geophysical survey succeeded in defining a series of shear zones along the western margin of the target zone. Unfortunately, the follow up deep overburden / base of till geochemical sampling was not particularly successful confirming that the shears discovered are only poorly auriferous (the peak assay was 159ppb Au).
A preliminary examination of the screening plant found that small natural riffle was formed in the fine grained outwash from the wet screen. A sample was collected and panned down, this sample contained a large number of fine colours of gold and one large grain that is just under 3mm in diameter.

Summary
Connemara holds a very strong ground position in Ireland with a selection of base metal targets. The licences within the Irish Midlands Orefield are highly prospective, as evidenced by the results from this year’s work, both on sole venture and joint venture properties with medium to high grade sulphide mineralisation intersected at two locations. The company is continuing to generate high quality targets. Connemara has enhanced its portfolio of licences with ground being awarded adjacent to the Lisheen Mine property, the Silvermines Deposit and the significant mineral occurrence at Moate.
Connemara’s objective for 2008/2009 is to continue to build. It’s ongoing 100 percent owned sole venture exploration programme is designed to identify large, Irish Type, carbonate hosted, zinc/lead deposits at Lough Sheelin, Castlemaine, Nenagh, Moate and Thurles. Exploration for VMS style mineralisation will commence on the Waterford and Mine River Blocks. The gold project in County Kildare will be evaluated, while the Teck Cominco / Connemara discovery at Stonepark will provide plenty of excitement.
