Company Statement

Centamin Egypt Limited is a mineral exploration company, listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX:CNT), the AIM Market of the London Stock Exchange (AIM:CEY) and the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX:CEE).

Centamin has been exploring for gold in Egypt since 1995, and in 2005 was granted a 160km 2 exploitation lease over the massive Sukari Hill gold project.

The current resource at Sukari is 8.56 million ounces Measured and Indicated, and 3.2 million ounces Inferred, with ongoing drilling expected to add significantly to this resource.

A feasibility study to upgrade the project to a 4-5 million tonne per year operation was completed in February 2007.

Construction is underway with completion estimated for the second quarter of 2009.
 

Current Operations

Sukari Gold Project
The Company's activities are focused on increasing the geological resource and bringing the Sukari gold project into production.

Exploration is being carried out on the areas adjacent to and surrounding the Sukari Hill porphyry.

Also contained within the 160 km 2 Sukari lease are a number of other occurrences and old workings, the most significant being:

Um Kola - Sabahiya - Kurdaman and Sukari East

Further drilling is expected to:

• Add to the global resource base. Drilling focused in the Amun Deeps, Ra,
  Gazelle and Pharaoh zones with 8 rigs on site;
• Significantly upgrade the Sukari gold reserves, which are currently 6.4Moz; and
• Increase the confidence level in inferred resource areas such that conversion to reserves is possible.
